Maystar School opened for the first time in January 2022 with the Preschool, and is growing incrementally. Children are now being admitted up to Grade 4. It runs the Ghana national curriculum, with an international outlook.

Founder and Headmistress

MRS MABEL OWUSU-ADDO, MBA (HRM), PgDE, BA (Hons) French and Spanish, Cert of Int. Sch. Leadership

Maystar School is the brain-child of Mrs. Mabel Owusu-Addo, an experienced educationist with over 30 years’ experience of working in schools in Ghana. After 12 years of teaching in her alma mater, Aburi Girls’ Secondary School, she moved into the international school system, starting with a year’s French teaching at the Ghana International School, a Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) school. She joined the Tema International School, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World school, as Vice Principal and French and Spanish teacher. She is the immediate-past Principal of nine years of East Airport International School, also a CAIE school and worked very closely with the British Council.

It is with this wealth of knowledge, skills and experience that she establishes MAYSTAR SCHOOL.

Objectives

Maystar School prepares your child for success in school and life after school. By balancing social-emotional skills and academic preparation, our teachers and classrooms empower children to learn, grow and thrive in the school and anywhere else in the world.

A focus on enabling every learner to excel not only academically, but also to develop their creative, physical, spiritual and imaginative interests.

Maystar School provides an environment to foster friendship and self-expression, thereby producing assertive and confident young people.

The school offers an opportunity for some of the child’s first significant relationships outside of the family home. It is within those relationships that children will flourish and learn, and we know that how we offer that opportunity is crucial.

Facilitation Approach

We adopt a combination of the various Early Years teaching approaches in facilitating the child’s learning. Activities focus on building trust for the role of the educator, artistic activities, and a warm and healthy classroom environment, with the aim of nurturing and producing confident and assertive young people.

It aims to see the potential in each child as a fully rounded individual. Collaborative classroom activities foster relationships with others and the world around them.

Maystar is christian and international in beliefs and values. Maystar believes in and inculcate in pupils and staff the universal human values, with emphasis on: Respect, Understanding, Empathy, Tolerance, and Integrity
